From Turf to Top Charts: The Ultimate Guide to the Umamusume Song List

Few multimedia franchises blend heart-pounding athletics, rich historical horse racing lore, and J-Pop euphoria quite like Cygames’ Umamusume: Pretty Derby. Beyond the high-stakes training, dramatic race sequences, and heartwarming slice-of-life moments, the heartbeat of the franchise is its legendary music catalogue.

Whether you are looking for the iconic anime openings that pump you up for race day, the game’s ever-expanding WINNING LIVE character anthems, or the inescapable cultural phenomenon that is “Umapyoi Densetsu,” the Umamusume song list is vast, diverse, and impossibly catchy.

1. The Crown Jewels: Franchise Anthems & Cultural Phenoms

Every Trainer knows these tracks by heart. They transcend individual character arcs to become the unifying anthems of the Tracen Academy universe.

• “Umapyoi Densetsu” (うまぴょい伝説): The undisputed king of the franchise. Serving as the primary game ending and a recurring grand-finale anthem across anime seasons and movies, it features an explosive rhythm, chaotic horse-girl energy, and rapid-fire lyrics where performers chant favorite trainer phrases. Winning a major race isn’t complete without hearing this song play in the Victory Live.
• “GIRLS’ LEGEND U” & “DRAMATIC JOURNEY”: The definitive training-scenario theme songs from the mobile game. These tracks encapsulate the emotional weight of guiding an Umamusume through the Twinkle Series, balancing anxiety, growth, and the golden glory of the turf.
• “U.M.A. NEW WORLD!!” & “Never Looking Back”: High-energy stadium bangers designed to get crowds waving glow sticks in unison during live concerts.

2. Anime Openings & Endings: Soundtracks to History

Each season of the anime adaptation mirrors the real-life triumphs and heartbreaks of legendary racehorses, backed by carefully curated soundtracks.

Season 1 (Special Week & Silence Suzuka)

• Opening: “Make debut!” — A bright, optimistic track capturing the wide-eyed wonder of stepping onto the racing track for the first time.
• Ending: “Grow Up Shine!” / “Find My Only Way”

• The Movie: Beginning of a New Era (Jungle Pocket): Features grit-infused rock anthems mirroring the fierce 90s racing boom.

3. The WINNING LIVE & STARTING GATE Collections

The backbone of the CD discography consists of the WINNING LIVE and STARTING GATE album series. With dozens of volumes released alongside game updates and live events, these albums serve several functions:

• Character Solos & Unit Tracks: Every Umamusume gets a chance to shine. Songs like Tokai Teio’s “Koi wa Derby☆” or Maruzensky’s “Kindan Burning Heart” weave the personality, vocal range, and racing style of the seiyuu (voice actress) into tailored musical genres—ranging from 80s synth-pop to modern idol dance tracks.
• Event & Scenario Themes: Albums like WINNING LIVE 01 through the latest entries introduce the seasonal race-track themes, training camp songs, and Champions Meeting background tracks.

4. Genre Diversity: Why the Music Works

What makes the Umamusume discography so addictive is its genre fluidity. It isn’t just standard idol pop; the music mirrors the diversity of the characters:

• Rock & Metal: High-octane guitars for gritty runners like Narita Brian or Jungle Pocket.
• Enka & Traditional Japanese: Unique stylistic choices for characters deeply rooted in traditional aesthetics or historical flavor (like Matikanefukukitaru).
• Bubblegum Pop & Electro: Fun, bouncy tracks delivered by energetic sprinters like Sakura Bakushin O.
